YAK
It is a bovid animal, artiodactyl mammals whose main characteristic is that of having a strictly herbivorous feeding, of great size, provided with much wool that serves to subsist in very cold climates. Its longevity is 23 years.
He lives naturally in the mountains of Asia and the Himalayas. It is currently domesticated by humans, but wild animals are also found outdoors.
The wild Yak is of greater magnitude that the domesticated one, being able to measure up to two meters and reach an extraordinary weight of 1.00 kilos. Also has horns of about 90 centimeters, which serve to defend themselves when they feel threatened by their surroundings, these usually grow backwards. In Asian communities these bunches are often used to make containers for milk, hence the animal is endangered by constant hunting.
A great difference that they have with the other cattle is that it has short legs and large hooves, which are ideal to run smoothly in the icy hills of the Himalayas.
It is a very admired species because of the strength it shows to perform in harsh environments. Over the decades, this cattle has become a great ally for rural settlers in Asia such as Tibet.
THE "CIPRÉS" OF THE GUAITECAS
Its scientific name is Pilgerodendron uviferum (D. Don) Florin, belongs to the family of cupresáceas.
This tree is endemic to the South American temperate forests, meaning that it is only and exclusively belonging to that place, which gives a considerable value to this species. Its greater population is in the south of Chile and in the extreme southwest of Argentina. Living in Chile the regions of Los Ríos, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes.
It is a slow-growing tree that can reach 20 meters in height, has a narrow and a trunk that can reach up to one meter in diameter, although the means are between 15 and 18 meters in height and a diameter between 30 and 50 centimeters. The heartwood is yellowish white and the sapwood is reddish.
The chosen this species to include in this post for a reason that brings back memories of me once I traveled along Chiloé, specifically the Tantauco Park, where the Guaitecas Cypress was observed a lot, and in part what motivated me to Study Forest Engineering.

WEBSITE RELATED TO MY CAREER
The website "Chileflora" is a site where it is
possible to learn about the native plants that exist in our country, both on
the nutritional and medicinal properties as well as how to identify them and
collect their seeds and seedlings. It is also a company that sells species of
plants native to Chile, both seeds and seedlings.
There are a number of articles related to the Chilean flora, in addition to many photographs of Chilean nature, emphasizing the habitat where the plants are developed and their importance.
There are a number of data on flora, including descriptions, uses, tips on propagation and photos of many native Chilean plants (currently it presents more than 2202 species with almost 20353 photographs, but it is expected that in A future will have the information on almost the totality of the Chilean native flora).
The Chileflora project began in south-central Chile, near the city of Talca, which has been operating since 2005. Due to the good location, close to the southern moist forests and the dry deserts of the northern Altiplano, the company has Access to the best and most varied selection of plants and seeds of Chile

Reading in my life
In memory, from a very young age I have been very
interested in reading, I think that since I have acquired the ability to decode
these hieroglyphs called "alphabet", I have not stopped interpreting
them in many different ways.
As far as I remember, for me libraries have been a
paradise of entertainment and learning, since I consider myself a person eager
for knowledge. Every time I finish a book and learn something new, I marvel at
life and feel very fortunate.
I will mention some books that have marked or
influenced me in forming the person I am now.
The little Prince
It's a book that I've reread a lot of times, and
every time I re-read, I leave a new message.
A horse called freedom
It is a children's book about a girl who must dress
as a man to be able to subsist in a macho era, where they suffered
disadvantages to being a woman. Her name was Charlotte Parkhurst.
Nothing
A book that made me a break in my vision of life,
delves into nihilistic themes, the lack of meaning.

A photograph
I took this photograph in 2015 at Canelillo beach, near El Quisco. This beach is very beautiful, because it has a mixture of beach with forest, more than anything of Eucalyptus, that is in the hill next to this one.I remember that time I went down the hill in a canopy they were renting, it was very amusing and adrenalinic, it also allowed me to observe more fully the entire beach, flying over the sea.I usually never photograph myself, because I do not consider myself very photogenic. However, this time I dedicated myself to taking many pictures with my sister Karina. At this moment I realized that my great interest was by nature, and it is clear in this photo that I feel very comfortable in it.This was my last summer before entering the University, and after that time I went back to visit the place this summer that happened with my friends of the University.

Trees at risk in Chile
There are many species both herbaceous and woody (trees) that are in a serious danger of extinction, mainly due to human causes.
Within these trees, both their felling and their sale are currently prohibited:
Larch (Fitzroya cupressoides): also known as Lahuén, this tree is of the family Cupressaceae. It grows from the province of Valdivia (Region of the Rivers) to the province of Chiloé (Region of the Lakes) in both the Cordillera de la Costa and the Andes. Due to the high value of its wood (construction of houses), in 1976 it was declared a Natural Monument, and its exploitation was forbidden.
Chilean palm (Jubaea chilensis): is an endemic palm of the family Arecaceae that presents a discontinuous distribution from the south of the river Limarí (region of Coquimbo) until the surroundings of Curicó (Maule Region). It has had a strong decrease in its population, the surviving trees present in 11 subpopulations, of which the biggest ones are in the National Park La Campana (Region of Valparaíso).
Cordillera cypress (Austrocedrus chilensis): it is a conifer of subantarctic origin of the Cupressaceae family that grows in both mountain ranges (of the Coast and of the Andes) between the Region of Valparaíso and the one of the Lakes. In recent years, its decline has been increasing as a result of logging, fires and grazing.
To conclude, I want to say that it is very important to be aware of the damage that we have generated over the years, in order to make a change in what we are doing now.

MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY.
My favourite piece of technology is my personal computer.
I use it all the time, either to
do work, study or hang out.
My personal computer gave me my parents more than four years ago, they bought
it used, that is why it has lasted a lot since it is an older technology, but now new
technologies make them little durable.
What I like about computers is that they serve a wide variety of needs, from playing to reading files, and it is very easy to use, since it has a keyboard and a touch mouse, and if this is complicated, you can connect a Mouse, in addition the screen is much bigger than the common tablets or cell phones, facilitating my vision, since I have to use it constantly due to the university.

EXPECTATIONS FOR A NEW SEMESTER.
This semester, I am taking an elective course on the sustainable use of water. I am also developing an assistant work in the field of Characterization and Interaction of the Biotic and Abiotic Components of the ecosystem, specifically in the field of Botany, I really like this because I can review the subject seen last year and learn a lot.
I am very motivated with all this, because I feel that each time I am closer to what I want to be.
I would like in parallel to go every time learning more dances, and maybe in some future to participate in some dance academy.
Finally I think I need to develop writing, such as doing a good essay.
MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
My name is Pamela Fuentes, but I prefer that
they call me Pame. I’m twenty
years old and soon I’ll be twenty-one. I was born in Chile in 1996. I am a
sophomore of Forest Engineering at the University of Chile.
I study this
because I love nature and I want to fight to protect it and for people to
become aware of how important it is to care for it. I also like the outings on
the ground.
In my free time I like to dance, read a lot and watch movies.
I am a lover of chocolate and chestnuts.
