Some changes that could be made in my study program

To begin with, I would like to eliminate some obligatory branches that I consider unnecessary in the curriculum, such as "leadership workshop", since they increase the academic load, which affects us so that we can dedicate less time to the most relevant branches.
Another change that I would like to make is that only one teacher is dedicated to impart a subject, or otherwise, that the sequence of the different modules is very organized, organized and panified, without there being any interference between them, and that good communication between the professors who teach each module.
Finally, it would be beneficial for each subject to stick to the planning delivered at the beginning of the course, where it is established: the duration of the classes, evaluations and the weighting of them in the final grade of the subject, the feedback of the assessments compulsorily. Understanding that a new evaluation cannot be made without having made the feedback of the previous test.
I would also like all teachers to be given an obligatory training to carry out the classes, emphasizing the learning of the students, teaching them basic notions about pedagogy and how they should prepare the study material and PowerPoint presentations.
In relation to the facilities of the faculty, I would like the E rooms of Agronomy to have curtains, because in summer, when there is a lot of light, it is reflected on the blackboard and it is very difficult to distinguish it; and in winter, we get very cold because in the absence of curtains, much heat is lost from the room.

My favorite subject

My favorite subject this semester was the optional "Insects of forest ecosystems: identification and effects", taught by Professor Amanda Huerta.
In this field we observe several insects, of the orders coleoptera, lepidoptera, isoptera, hymenoptera, hemipterans; Both native and exotic. All of them with some forestry interest, related to plantations of pine, eucalyptus or native forest.
We also had to read articles that dealt with investigations that had been carried out, all related in some way to insects. This seemed very interesting to me, since we developed our critical part and our understanding of more scientific concepts. I also liked it because each person had a point of view about it, regardless of whether it handled the scientific terms, causing a debate, with which we finally learned much more than just having read the article.
Finally, we had to develop an insectary, which consists of collecting the insect, identifying it and assembling it. This may seem very simple, but for me it was difficult because I had to research a lot to be able to recognize them and know where these small animals live. However, thanks to the fact that I had to work a lot for the elaboration of the insectary, it was that I learned a lot, besides being interested in the world of insects. Now I can not stop observing the bugs!

Opinions

What is my opinion about:

violence on television?
The violence on television is now a very normal thing, is not surprising. Since the beginning of the TV the violence was there, as a form of humor. The growing of this kind of “humor” was tremendous, until became to the extreme that make the people do not question it. I think this problem do not have a solution, because if something is called “violent”, it will costume of another thing that represents the same kind of violence but in another way.

having pets at home?
The pets at home is a very beautiful action, they have been of the beginnings of the societies, and will be in the end of all of us. For these times, the pets are a good option for the lonely people, for the couples that have or not children, always the pets are part of the family.

recycling?

The recycling is the most important care of the society right now. It must to be a life philosophy, a continuum, a world-widethinking. The Earth is going down, getting ill and the ecosystems are failing. If we do not go anything, we will pay more than we are paying now.

legalizing marijuana and other drugs?
The legalizing of marijuana is a controversial theme. In my concern, the marijuana must be legal, because it is just a plant and her effects are less harmful than the alcohol or other drugs. Countries like Netherlands or Canada have marijuana legal and very good programs of consume or rehabilitation, promoting the responsible smoke of this plant.

Postgraduate studies

Thinking in continue my studies when I finish my career at Universidad de Chile, a very interesting program that I really like it is the Master en Paleontología Avanzada. This post grade belongs to Universidad de Alcalá and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. It is a inter college research program. There are a lot of reasons for choosing this program: the focus of both universities is very long, combining careers like Geology, Paleontology and Biology. Theses perspectives are so useful to enrich the mind. Another reason for choosing this program is the country, Spain. It is not just for the language, also the research in Spain are very powerful. A lot of paleontological and archaeological sites are in Spain, like Atapuerca, Cima de los Huesos, Playa de la Griega, etc. Since dinosaurs, the first humans been, neanderthalpeople and thousands of more pre and historical sites that needs information about the use, evolution and cycles of their plants.
Now, about the form to study this program, the best option is getting a Beca Chile, that consist in a scholarship payed from the state of Chile to the people accepted in the different universities around the world. With the Beca Chile I can live in Spain and study there full time until I finish my studies at Universidad de Alcalá and Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

My Future Job

A kind of job I want to have could be in a natural reserve, looking for the best for the ecosystem and researching the behavior of the forest. This job demands a lot of work in field, so I imagine that will implicates so much travel inside the reserve. For me is not a problem be moving on all the year, I prefer it than the monotony and the static of an office.
Now, talking about the salary, it is between the ($800.000 and $1.200.000), this is the pay that offer the government organisms. There are another privates institutions that cares about these works, but they are not a lot. May be the pay could be better than the government work but is most difficult to get theses jobs.
Thinking in a line of investigation to continue in my professional life, I really like the paleobotanic studies. In my concern, this area is the most interesting because all the life on the planet needs the plants, and the understanding of the evolution of the plants and their [paleo] ecosystems will help us to comprise other live forms. The presence of plants indicates and implicates a lot of organisms living around together, and the paleobotanic studies are a very useful tool to reveal the life in the past.
