My favorite subject

My favorite subject this semester was the optional "Insects of forest ecosystems: identification and effects", taught by Professor Amanda Huerta.
In this field we observe several insects, of the orders coleoptera, lepidoptera, isoptera, hymenoptera, hemipterans; Both native and exotic. All of them with some forestry interest, related to plantations of pine, eucalyptus or native forest.
We also had to read articles that dealt with investigations that had been carried out, all related in some way to insects. This seemed very interesting to me, since we developed our critical part and our understanding of more scientific concepts. I also liked it because each person had a point of view about it, regardless of whether it handled the scientific terms, causing a debate, with which we finally learned much more than just having read the article.
Finally, we had to develop an insectary, which consists of collecting the insect, identifying it and assembling it. This may seem very simple, but for me it was difficult because I had to research a lot to be able to recognize them and know where these small animals live. However, thanks to the fact that I had to work a lot for the elaboration of the insectary, it was that I learned a lot, besides being interested in the world of insects. Now I can not stop observing the bugs!
